Project Funding

The IASON S project was funded by the European Commission (DG TREN) under the 5th RTD Programme.

Project summary

Project assessment is an essential element in the continuous development of transport policy. By giving insights into the positive and negative effects of alternative policies and investments, it can assist in evaluating and prioritizing alternatives, before they are implemented.

The goal of the project was to improve the understanding of the impact of transportation policies on short- and long-term spatial development in the EU, simultaneously developing a unified assessment framework for the European level, integrating the network, the regional economic and macro-economic impacts. The project provided the European Commission improved assessment procedures and new input to assessments by studying spatial impacts of transport investments and policies.
